Rosengarten is one of the oldest parcels in Rüdesheim, located in the heart of the village. Nearly 10 years ago I leased the vineyards surrounding the present-day ruin (the fortress of the Broemser knights, built around 1044 A.D.), and have been experimenting with the wine's style ever since. As I have grown to understand the site better, I realized that it was destined to express a great dry riesling. There are three distinctive parts to this enclosed vineyard, with the “Rosengarten” containing the oldest vines in the site. The soils are mainly sandy loess-loam with quartz, giving it excellent water distribution.
This wine was vinified in 1200L German oak casks and then further aged in cask before bottling.

Press Notes :

95 points, James Suckling – “Stunningly racy and filigree dry Rheingau with complex violet and licorice notes. Very striking interplay of delicate white and citrus fruit with a positive hint of bitterness that helps drive the long, compact mineral finish. Drink or hold.” – Stuart Pigott
