60% Malvasia delle Lipari, 40% Carricante
Bianco Pomice is our leading white wine, made from a blend of two very different grapes Malvasia delle Lipari and Carricante, which marry perfectly to show the unique character of the island. The Malvasia is fermented in stainless steel to preserve its aromatics, while the more austere Carricante sees bâtonnage and time in barrel, bringing tremendous tension and complexity to the wine.
A dry white wine with great finesse and freshness. Both on the nose and on the palate, it shows characteristics of citrus, wildflowers, and salt. The high acidity balances with a moderate body and fruit concentration. It’s pleasing, with a long, persistent finish.
The 2020 vintage is yet to be reviewed. 2019 received 91 Points from Eric Guido of Vinous Media: “A pretty bouquet of white flowers, ginger and crushed apples lifts up from the 2019 Bianco Pomice. It gains a bit of tropical flair and richness with time in the glass. Here I’m finding creamy, almost glycerol-like textures that soothe; a polished display of peach and ripe pear coasting along a core of juicy acidity; and a density that will reveal further depths with short-term cellaring. This tapers off with admirable length while exotic inner florals slowly fade. The Pomice is a beautiful blending of 60% Malvasia delle Lipari and 40% Carricante.”
