2006 was characterized by abundant rainfall during the winter, which facilitated the creation of crucial water supply and a relatively cold spring which delayed the budding process. During the summer the temperatures increased, but remained below the seasonal averages. In the later part of August, cloudy, rainy weather lasted for several days, slowing the maturation process and giving more vibrancy to the grapes. From September onwards, the weather conditions became more suitable for achieving a balanced phenolic maturation, with relatively small grapes. 2006 was a classic vintage that was highlighted by the balance of tannins and acidity. It is still quite youthful, with a soft, silky texture that showcases this cooler vintage.

“This is a sophisticated and very modern approach to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano with an evident oak intervention that adds layers of spice and smoke to a rich palate of forest berry and blackberry. The wine is smooth and dense in the mouth and offers very impressive staying power. Give it another five years of cellar aging.”
