We like to refer to our Terra di Monteverro as the little brother of our top Monteverro wine because the Terra is produced from the same varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, so it is also a classic Bordeaux cuvée. It goes without saying that strict selection in the vineyards, harvesting by hand and the utmost care in the cellar are par for the course here. The difference from Monteverro: some of the grapes come from different parcels, even the composition of the cuvée may vary a bit. Terra offers an excellent price-performance ratio, which even in the early years is quite open and accessible and entices with the aromas of the shrubland as well as fruity notes of cherries and red berries.

The 2016 vintage comprises 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. After a selection process in the vineyard, each lot is fermented individually. The fermentations occur naturally in both barrels and stainless steel before being aged in French oak barrels (60% new) for 20 months. The wine is then bottled without filtration or fining. The hallmark of Terra di Monteverro is its approachability, freshness and beautiful aromatics. 2016 is drinking incredibly well now and still has great aging potential for several more years.

Press Notes:

93 points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker Wine Advocate – “The 2016 Terra di Monteverro (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot) is a great choice if you love blended reds from sunny Tuscany. This pretty expression is dark, exuberant, rich and fruit-forward. However, the wine is also characterized by that sense of focus and linearity that is the very definition of the classic 2016 vintage. Blackberry and black currant segue to spice, tar and smoked cedar.”
