Brut Reserve is our most robust expression of who we are and what we believe: Creating wines that are an authentic reflection of a time and place. We like to think of it as Keeping it Honest. 2018 was a blend of 35% Chardonnay, 19% Pinot Noir and 46% Pinot Meunier from our estate vineyards in Appledore, Kent and near Goodwood in West Sussex.

The 2018 vintage was quite mild, which allowed for a balanced growing season and beautiful development of character and flavor in the grape clusters. The summer brought healthy flowering in mid-June and by August, the clusters were starting to develop their individual flavor profiles. This is when we dropped about 50% of our fruit to focus the vines on creating intensity in concentration and brightness in the fruit.

The harvest took place in early October and signs pointed to a great vintage from the very beginning. Each parcel was harvested by hand and vinified separately in temperature-controlled tanks, with a small portion in older oak barrels. This meant that over 200 individual components went into this vintage blend. 100% malolactic fermentation was completed to add additional complexity and creaminess to the final wine. Blending occurred just before bottling and the wine stayed on its lees for a minimum of 30 months before disgorgement.
