2019 was a spectacular vintage in Bierzo resulting in grapes of great concentration, minerality and quality. There was significant rain during flowering , which limited the potential yield of the vineyard; however, this only furthered our focus on the best clusters to be utilized in this wine. The summer was quite warm, increasing the ripening of the grapes and enhancing their richness and concentration of flavors. Right before harvest the dry conditions continued, yet the vines relied on the water reserves from the spring to balance their ripeness with high amounts of acidity. 2019 overall was a vintage of very high quality with lower quantity, specifically for this wine.
The grapes for La Revelía, a 100% Godello, were harvested and sorted completely by hand, before a temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged further on its lees to add further complexity and texture to the final wine. The aging process occurred in 500L French oak barrels for 8 months before bottling.
Winery Tasting Notes – “An intense straw yellow wine, clean and bright. On the nose, we find complex notes with hints of ripe stone fruit and dried flowers. On the palate, the wine has volume and length thanks to its careful ageing in French oak barrels. When swallowed, it is unctuous and the acidity and minerality of the grape variety are evident.
