Santenay is a village in the south of the Côte de Beaune that specializes in Pinot Noir, producing wines with firm tannins, supple structure, and quite floral and red-fruited bouquets. The "Les Gravières” Premier Cru plot is a special plot comprised of clay, limestone, and marl soils, with the vines planted on a strong slope. Made from 45-year-old vines, this wine is well-built and emits a floral bouquet that is approachable in youth with great aging potential. It sits broadly on the palate, with bold tannins. This wine reminds us of the Grand Crus from the Côte de Nuits.

Press Notes :

The 2018 vintage was released and reviewed before the 2017. That vintage received 92 points from Wine Enthusiast - "Oaky notes on the nose of this wine are subtle but have a toasty, lifted glint. The palate comes in with ripe red and dark cherry fruit and lots of concentration. A textured richness is made up of fruit and slightly brushing tannins, backed by freshness and firmness. This wine will benefit from a little more bottle age and has all it takes to evolve with its chocolaty finish. Drink 2022–2030.”
