Blend 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre and 10% mix of the other 13 approved grapes.
The blend in 2017 has a deeper structure than the previous vintage, 2016. Challenging weather during spring flowering especially impacted our Grenache vines, preventing healthy clusters from forming. However, both Syrah and Mourvedre in 2017 had very beautiful, concentrated clusters, which gave us the opportunity to assemble a wine that is truly unique to the vintage. Our 2017 is a bold, structured wine that has firm tannins, a dark fruit profile, and a balance that will allow it to age in the cellar for quite a long time.
No Cuvée da Capo was made in 2017, which only increased the intensity and quality of the 2017 Cuvée Réservée.
(94-96) points, Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker Wine Advocate: “ The 2017 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Réservée hits the standard assemblage: 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre and 10% "others." Still in cask at the time of my visit, it has expressive floral and garrigue notes, plus hints of star anise layered over a base of black cherries. Full-bodied, deep and rich, this looks like a vintage to set aside for a while, with at least 15 years of longevity ahead of it.”
