Our vintage cuvée, which could be classified as Brut Nature, is made in a natural method of production that focuses on expressing the purity of fruit and the terroir of the vineyards. The 2016 vintage, one of fantastic quality in Piemonte’s Alta Langa, is a blend of 80% Pinot Nero and 20% Chardonnay sourced from our vineyards in Costigliole d’Asti, Cassinasco, Canelli and Loazzolo. Each vineyard is harvested and processed by hand after rigorous sorting and vinified separately until the final blend is achieved.
After destemming, the grapes are not pressed, but instead we obtain only the free run juice, becoming the foundation of this wine's flavor profile. Primary fermentation occurs in stainless-steel tanks, followed by nine months of aging in stainless steel. The wine is then bottled and rests on its lees for over 50 months to create the rich intensity that layers onto the aromatics and raciness that our Millesimato is known for. The wine is then disgorged without dosage to achieve a natural sugar level of 2.4 g/L. This vintage has beautiful complexity and elegance, reflecting the distinct minerality of the soils of Alta Langa, matched with a fine perlage and fruit profile.

2015 vintage - 93 points, Robert Parker Wine Advocate – “Showing a pale pink appearance, the Contratto 2015 Alta Langa Metodo Classico Millesimato Pas Dosé shows a fine and tight personality that is reinforced by the delicate nature of the beading. To the bouquet, it reveals peach, grapefruit and a touch of baked almond biscuit. The blend is 85% Pinot Nero and 15% Chardonnay.” – Monica Larner
