The Cannubi cru is one of the most sought-after and lauded vineyard sites in Barolo. This vintage is particularly special as we continue to rally all of the producers in the vineyard to adopt fully organic viticulture. Cannubi is one of the most distinctive sites in Piemonte due to its mixture of both sandy and calcareous soils, giving the wines both freshness and elegance to layer onto the structure that Nebbiolo provides. Vinification takes place in steel tanks under temperature control with frequent pumping over and punching down, followed by aging in larger 2000L casks for 24 months and one year further in the bottle prior to release. A bright garnet red color, it has persistent aromas with floral and fruity notes and lively acidity.
Press Notes :
93 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media – “The 2018 Barolo Cannubi is soft, open-knit and gracious, as wines from this vintage tend to be. Silky contours and pliant fruit add to its appeal and overall immediacy. The 2018 is a real charmer. It's understated personality will be easy to appreciate upon release. Sweet red cherry, cinnamon, mint, cedar and dried rose petal linger nicely, with pretty sweet floral notes that continue to open over time.”
