This wine was aged one year in old oak barrels after fermentation to increase the intensity of fruit and integrate the minerality and acidity together into an elegant still Pinot Noir. 2019 was the perfect vintage to craft a still wine, as it was a warmer growing season that increased the intensity of fruit concentration, providing grapes that were stunningly aromatic, ripe and ready for this style of wine to be made from this vineyard site.
The color of this delicate red wine is ruby red and star bright. That delicate nature is short-lived as the powerful aromas of black currants, blackberries and black cherries take hold, leading to further notes of violets, ginger and cinnamon. Once the wine opens up, further layers unfold of earth and spice. Despite its elegance, there is a stunning structure and texture to the wine that ends in a finish of pure silk. This wine is ready to be enjoyed now and over the next 8-10 years, plus several years longer in the very rare magnum format. Only 1500 bottles and 480 magnums were produced.
