This wine is a blend coming from top Premier and Grand Cru vineyards across Champagne. These sites are located in the historical sourcing areas of the House: the Montagne de Reims, (crus of Mailly-Champagne, Verzy, Trépail and Avenay) and the Côte des Blancs (crus of Chouilly and Avize).
The blend for the 2012 vintage wine is 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir. When we made the blend for this vintage, our desire was to capture the diversity of aromatic profiles while achieving a harmonious balance. Thus this wine speaks to great contrast and complexity, while showcasing the elegance of our fruit sources.
After a long, slow fermentation, the wine was bottled and aged on lees for at least 8 years. This adds to the further intensity and richness that reflects the 2012 vintage. The wine is at a Brut-level dosage of 6 g/L.
Press Notes:
94 points, James Suckling – “A fragrant nose with aromas of apples, pears, brioche and candied citrus. Round, silky and balanced with fine bubbles and a flavorful, minerally finish. Full-bodied with a creamy texture and wonderfully soft fruit. Highlights the balance of the 2012 vintage. A blend of 54% chardonnay and 46% pinot noir. Drink or hold.”
