The 2015 vintage of Nemo was one of the best vintages ever produced. We did not produce a Nemo Cabernet in 2014 as the grapes did not ripen to the maturity level that we require for a balanced, ripe wine. The winter leading into 2015 was quite mild and allowed the vines to recover and lead into a beautiful spring bud break and flowering. Turning to the summer, it was quite hot and dry, giving the vines the needed stress to create spectacular, concentrated grapes with structured skin tannins, without being too over-ripe. As harvest approached, our team went through the vineyards to focus the vine’s energy on the best clusters, adding to the full flavor and concentration of the grapes. The optimal weather throughout the growing season allowed for good quantity with exceptional quality. As we revisit the wines from 2015, they are still incredibly fresh and bold in their fruit profile with a beautiful, elegant structure that will lend to continued development and aging for many years.
94 Points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker Wine Advocate: “Sporting a smart new label design, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Nemo is a confident and varietally pure expression of the grape. Despite the heat and the sunshine of the vintage, the cooler conditions of Barberino Val d'Elsa allow for some spice and green herb to accent the bouquet here. At its core, the wine shows a thick heart of blackberry fruit and sour plum. Give it a few more months to gain in weight and volume thanks to extra bottle aging. Some 6,500 bottles were made.”
