Our Rosso di Montalcino has always been a wine that we have looked at very much the same as our Brunello. We seek to produce the very best wine possible to showcase the incredible vibrancy that can be produced from Sangiovese. In 2020, most of the grapes came from the Canalicchio Cru with some younger vine clusters from the Montosoli Cru.
2020, much like 2019, was a 5-star vintage in Montalcino with similarities to both the great 2010 and 2012 harvests. The growing season was mild and balanced, giving the possibility for early enjoyment of the Rosso while still allowing for good aging potential. This is a wine made in the more structured, bold style of Rosso and will continue to develop in the cellar for another 7-10 years.
The 2020 vintage is yet to be reviewed. Find here the 2019 vintage.
Press Notes :
91+ points, Vinous Media – “The 2019 Rosso di Montalcino requires a bit of time to blossom in the glass; yet patience is rewarded, as an air of smoky minerals and peppery herbs slowly evolves into a perfumed display of wild strawberries, rose hips and flowery undergrowth. This is soft and supple, seeming almost fleshy at first, yet it gains harmony through a savory mix of mineral-tinged red berries and spices. A subtle film of fine tannin lingers, yet the mouth waters for more, as this literally buzzes with residual energy while inner florals slowly fade.”- Eric Guido
