This was a spectacular vintage across all of our vineyards – balanced of intensity and acidity, which makes for a vintage that can be enjoyed for decades to come. The conditions of the vintage were quite perfect for Nebbiolo as the growing season began. The spring was mild and we began with a beautiful fruit set heading into the summer. The summer temperatures were quite hot and dry, which created great stress in the vines. We focused on canopy management to ensure the clusters were not exposed greatly to sunscorch. Immediately before harvest, the vines were met with a refreshing rain, which came at the perfect time. This injected needed life into the vine to add brightness to the very concentrated clusters. This is a rich, bold vintage that should continue to develop in the cellar for many years to come.
95 points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker Wine Advocate - “You can taste the softness and richness of the warm vintage in the 2015 Barolo Margheria. The wine offers dark fruit flavors and lots of rich, plump fruit at the back. This is a softly textured wine that can also be consumed in the near or medium term. This single-vineyard Barolo from Serralunga d'Alba ages in botti grandi for 36 months. The vines are 60 years old, and the soils are rich with limestone clay. Some 6,200 bottles were made.”
