Shendame means “You and me” in Georgian - you will never be alone with this amber wine. Rkatsiteli is a principal grape variety in Kakheti, the wine region of Georgia, and has generally quiet aromatics unless it is fermented in Qvevri, when Rkatsiteli comes into its own, with fairly tannic, balanced with moderate acidity and real depth. Given the level of skin contact while fermenting in Qvevri, Shendame has a beautiful amber (also known as orange) color with flavors of dried orange peel, spices, apricot and other stone fruits.
Recommended temperature for serving is 50–54°F / 10-12°C.
Best served with fish, cheese, vegetables, seafood and pasta.
